About Global FM Radio as written in Jimmy's own words:

100% Genre Free Broadcasting

So what do we mean by Genre Free Broadcasting… We at Global FM believe that some of the greatest music of all time would never have been created had the artists been subjected to the rigid polarization of today’s genre obsessed listening environment.

Please consider this example. The Beatles are one of the most beloved musical acts of all time and “SGT. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is still globally accepted as a creative masterpiece. Suppose The Beatles were a brand new “unsigned” band in 2010. Their demo could consist of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, “She’s Leaving Home” and “A Day in the Life…” (now that’s a demo) It gets to a record company exec. who asks “What genre is this?”. “Should I give it to the A&R guy in Rock, R&B, Jazz, Classical, Rap, Country, Progressive Rock….What is it ?”

The Rock guy will reject it because it’s too classical and melodic…the Progressive Rock guy will reject it because it’s too gentle…the classical department won’t listen because it’s not Mozart…R&B…Country…well, you get it.

So The Beatles greatest music would be “un-marketable “…therefore…”un-signable” in today’s market.

So now some music attorney tells The Beatles they have to build a website and develop their own following.

They find a web host and are asked to fill out a form. The first question is “What genre are you?”. So John, Paul, George and Ringo are faced with a drop-down box that shows the hundreds of genre’s to choose from. Hip-Hop…Zydeco…Drum and Bass…Ska… Their career is over. They will fail in whatever genre they choose.

Genre is nothing more than a filing system and no artist should ever be forced to paint within such tiny little boxes.

At Global FM you will hear Frank Sinatra, AC DC, The Bee-Gees, old Genesis, new Elton John… I’m listening right now actually and I just heard “Freewill” by Rush followed by Abba’s “Waterloo” followed by “I am the Walrus”…one of my favorite tracks by the “Un-signable” Beatles. …ahh…”My Cherie Amour” by Stevie Wonder is next.

When these songs are played back to back they don’t really sound so different, they just sound better.

..as if they are all a part of something much bigger

We hope you enjoy listening to music this way as much as we do.

I’ve got blisters on my fingers.
